Hope Shows made its first appearance at a Christian music festival this weekend, as Family-Friendly WIBI hosted a fundraiser at AgapeFest 2010 for the Hope Rocks Campaign in support of our next prison concert. As main stage emcee, Jeremiah Beck, WIBI station manager, promoted the work of Hope Shows and encouraged attendees to donate $10 concert tickets for Illinois inmates to attend at Christian concert in their facility.
Forty-six tickets were donated during the event, kicking off our goal of 500 tickets for the next prison show. Each show costs approximately $5000 to produce, with the goal of hosting at least 500 inmates at each facility. For every $10 ticket donated, Hope Shows moves us one person closer to surrounding the prison facility with the hope of the gospel as presented in Christian music.
Honored to be one of four ministries promoted at AgapeFest 2010, Hope Shows had the opportunity to showcase prison ministry – and the work of Prison Fellowship – both at a booth in the vendor pavilion and from stage. In addition to providing prison shows, Hope Shows also seeks to engage the next generation of youth and young adults in various opportunities for prison ministry through Christian music cause-related concerts.
Prison Fellowship serves as a key Hope Shows sponsor in the effort to communicate the message of prison ministry. Prison Fellowship’s “Forgive, Don’t Forget” campaign offers a unique opportunity to support a newly-released inmate through their “Get A Shirt, Give A Shirt” program. Visit www.forgivedontforget.org to order a trendy “Forgive, Don’t Forget” t-shirt for yourself and the proceeds from your purchase will provide a button-down shirt and tie for a former inmate preparing to re-enter the work force.
Hope Shows is currently in the approval process for shows at two regional prisons. If you would like to support these upcoming events, we welcome your gift via online or mail (Hope Shows, P.O. Box 652, Greenville, IL 62246).
Thank you, AgapeFest 2010 attendees, for your support at this year’s festival!
